# Introduction

When introducing Algebra, the first thing to notice is Patterns.

For example, if we have 0, 3, 6, 9, 12, 15… what do you think will come next? Obviously, the numbers are increasing by 3. This means the next one will likely be .

Another example, if we have 1, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11… what do you think will come next? The numbers are increasing by 2, so the next one is likely going to be .

Another example, if we have 1, 4, 7, 10, 13… what do you think will come next? The numbers are increasing by 3, so the next one is likely going to be .

Using patterns, questions may sometimes ask you to **find the next number**. Sometimes it’s not as straightforward as each time adding a particular number, however. It could be first time +1, then +2, then +3, etc.
