In the Shaping

It’s been a long time.
But I think it’s time to share what’s been on my heart recently.

Some days it hurts, and some times it’s hard.
Swallowing the thoughts and ways of another, and even my own.
To change is to be human.  Being transformed is His grace.

I treasure this – he calls us to”…love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you” – Matthew 5:44
Doesn’t mean you should let people trample all over you, to let them do wrong all over and over again, but it literally means to pray and let God hold the burden of all those negative feelings or even grudges we tend to hold.  With the toughest of people he just tells you to bring it all to him and talk to him about it.  Nothing more, nothing less.

When you’re stuck or when you lose your cool.
When you find yourself lose control of your mouth and you unintentionally hurt others with it, what do you do?
When there’s so many things you need to keep up with.
When life is an effort.  And you’re barely making it through.
Oh but you do.  And you live.
Because someone gave it all.

They say count your blessings.
So let me start.
Blessed with my colleagues, and great bosses.
Blessed with patience and kindness of strangers and familiar ones.
Blessed with what I have.
To be able to make mistakes and work on them.
Endless blessings everyday, because of who He is.
Can you see the beauty, it’s in all of them, in all of us.
All pointing to a Great living God, whether or not we want to see it.

But then there’s great darkness, great adversity.
Tribulations.
Battles of the mind inside.
Wars and uncontrollable tragedies around too.
Things I cannot reason with or understand sometimes.
That all seems nearly endless too.
But then there’s a sunny day, a ray of hope.
Something to smile about again.

I’ve seen great losses, and great gains.
I’ve experienced some too myself ;).
All in all life is sometimes a struggle but also rewarding.

Where do I begin to start working?
I’ll take each day as it comes.
One breath after another.
Let me lift this arm and the other in freedom to help another,
in your name Lord.
Amen.
